How to connect a Bitcoin wallet
Allown follows a Bitcoin wallet by its address, reading the public blockchain: the balance and every coin in or out. No keys, nothing to install.

- Time
- About 2 minutes
What you need
- Your wallet app (Ledger, Trezor, Trust Wallet, Exodus, Electrum…)
- One minute
Step by step
Copy your receiving address
- Receive
- Bitcoin
- Copy
Open your wallet app, choose Receive (sometimes Get or Deposit), pick Bitcoin and copy the address. It starts with
bc1,1or3.Check it holds your coins
Many wallets show a fresh address each time, so coins can sit on several. Paste the address into the search on mempool.space: it shows the balance there.
If your coins are spread over a few addresses, connect each one; they can all fill the same Allown account.
Hardware wallets usually show the address on the device too. Compare the first and last few characters.
Paste it into Allown
In Allown, open the account you want to fill, choose Add connection and pick Bitcoin among the wallets. Paste the address and press Connect.
Why it’s safe
- A wallet address is public, like an account number: anyone can look it up, nobody can move coins with it.
- Allown never asks for your seed phrase (the 12 or 24 words) or your private key. Anyone who asks for them can take your coins: type them nowhere but your own wallet.
- Nothing to switch off later: to stop, remove the connection in Allown.
After you connect
The balance appears within a minute, then the history: every confirmed transaction in or out, the network fee included in what was sent. After that Allown checks the address every few hours.
Wallets don't record what you paid, so Allown values every coin that arrived at the market price of its day. If you moved coins in from an exchange you've connected, connect it too: the move then shows on both sides.
Questions
My wallet shows a different address every time.
That's normal and good for privacy. Connect the addresses that hold coins. Reading a whole wallet from its extended public key (xpub) is coming.
Is Lightning included?
No, only coins on the Bitcoin blockchain itself.
What does the beta label mean?
Wallets are new in Allown. The balance is always read in full, and anything the history misses is settled with one adjustment, so what you hold is right.
